Quiddles Cafe, Chesil Cove, Portland

On leaving Weymouth you  follow the edges of the 18 mile long Chesil Beach and follow its curve through Portland to get to Chesil Cove. One of the best bribes for all, to reward after a long walk on the beach, is Quiddles Cafe – a small seafood cafe with a short menu of good simple food. I love the mackerel pate, for some reason it tastes so much better than any I have ever made. Maybe its the stunning view out to sea. In milder climes you can sit out at the front along the promenade.

  •  www.quiddles.co.uk, check for opening times.
  • Thursday evenings open for paella.
  • Easy walking along promenade, tougher on the shingle.
  • Brilliantly located skate park on the beach as you are leaving the Cove towards Weymouth.

Can’t believe I’ve never been to this place! Will look out for it when next Portland-bound!
