Hix Townhouse

HixTownHouse-breakfast

Got a sneaky viewing of the new Hix Townhouse in Lyme Regis. It is so very Mark Hix in style; simple, stylish and eclectic with touches of wry humour. 8 rooms all styled differently, from the Hunting Room to the Garden Room to the quirky Mad Hatters Room. The interior styling was by Mark himself, from vintage finds, something he loves to do. Read more

Hell Farmhouse – Japanese Food

Asian food in the  rural West Country is generally not its forte and something I crave frequently. Last Friday I missed out (due to other social arrangements I will have you know, such is the West Country social whirl) on a friends birthday supper at Hell Farmhouse in Chideock. Read more

Christmas Past and Present

Super friend C passed on these beautiful menus from the Belmont Hotel in Sidmouth which date from 1947 and 1950. C thought it would be a good post to see how the hotel has changed and quite right she is too…we go from the beauty of the handpainted vintage menus on stiff card to the photocopy on 80gsm (with a rather sweet watercolour of the hotel, I should mention).  Oh, how times have changed, said the Telegraph reader… Read more
